The Well Being Centre

As you entered the gates of Skanda Vale during the early part of last year you were probably curious about all the activity opposite Lord Ganesh’s Gopurum. The outcome of all this work is a reception area and a space where health advice can be given, the Well-Being Centre. This building also houses a separate room for emergency treatment and another for mothers and babies. By the end of the Subramanium Festival, on the day of our Hospice Fete, a local Councillor officially opened this unit.

We are so happy to have this facility. Whenever you have questions about the Temple timetable, our history, the Hospice or any other information, you will find somebody in the reception for your assistance. The Divine’s inspiration in establishing this area now enables the Community to extend our care to pilgrims in a much more complete way.

The Well-Being Centre is the heart of this building. We are very aware of the difficulty many of you have (especially the elderly), in obtaining basic health care and advice. This centre provides a place where those visiting the Community on pilgrimage can access a range of simple health checks, such as: monitoring your blood pressure and pulse rate, measuring your blood sugar levels, as well as giving you an opportunity to privately discuss any problems or difficulties you may have. The centre is run by the monks and nuns of the Community (who are also experienced carers and part of our Hospice team).

We are here to offer guidance and this can then give you the confidence to follow up any problems you have or that we have perceived, with your local doctor.

For those pilgrims who may benefit from more specialised facilities at our Hospice, the Well-Being Centre provides a point of introduction.

The Divine has provided this facility for your benefit – please come and use it. We are very much looking forward to care for you and of course, as always, this service is free of charge.
